Connect each barrister's calendar so it appears on the shared Calendars page and Reception can edit events on their behalf.

Google Calendar — how to connect

        1. In Google Calendar, click the gear → Settings → pick your calendar in the left sidebar → Share with specific people or groupsAdd people.
        2. Add (loading service account email…) with permission "Make changes to events".
        3. Back here, click Connect on the row, paste the calendar address (usually the barrister's email), and hit Verify.
⚠ Expected: Google sends a "shared with you" email to that service account address, but the address isn't a real mailbox so the barrister gets a bounce-back saying address not found. Ignore it — the sharing still worked. The Verify step confirms.

Microsoft 365 / Outlook — how to connect

Outlook uses a "publish and forward" model — no Microsoft sign-in needed (and no IT approval required).

        1. In Outlook on the web, click the gear → View all Outlook settingsCalendarShared calendars.
        2. Under Publish a calendar, pick the calendar, choose "Can view all details", click Publish.
        3. Copy the ICS link (the one ending in .ics).
        4. Back here, click Connect Outlook on the row, paste the link, and confirm the address invitations should be sent to.

What this means in practice: Reception can see the barrister's events (with a few hours' delay, due to Microsoft's caching). Edits Reception makes are sent as iCalendar email invitations that Outlook auto-adds to the calendar (no Accept/Decline prompt). Events the barrister adds themselves in Outlook show up read-only on the intranet.

        Checking…

The service account credentials file must be placed at credentials/google-service-account.json on the server. Share each Google Calendar with the service account email address (with "Make changes to events" permission).

The service account email address (for reference). This is the email shown in the service account JSON key file.

        Room → Calendar Mapping

Map each conference room to a Google Calendar ID. Click "Fetch Available Calendars" above to populate the dropdowns, then select the calendar for each room. Leave as "No calendar linked" to skip sync for that room.

Manage the shared e-mail addresses used across Chambers. All users can add, edit, or remove entries.

        Connect My Calendar

Connect your Google or Outlook calendar so it appears on the chambers Calendars page and Reception can see (and help manage) your day.

How to connect — Google Calendar
        1. Open Google Calendar → gear icon → Settings.
        2. In the left sidebar pick your calendar → Share with specific people or groupsAdd people.
        3. Add (loading…) with permission "Make changes to events".
        4. Back here, click Connect Google, paste your calendar address (usually your email), and hit Verify.
⚠ Expected: Google will email you a "shared with you" notification, then bounce back with address not found. That address isn't a real mailbox — the sharing still worked. Ignore the bounce and continue with the Verify step.
How to connect — Microsoft 365 / Outlook
        1. In Outlook on the web, click the gear → View all Outlook settingsCalendarShared calendars.
        2. Under Publish a calendar, pick the calendar, choose "Can view all details", click Publish.
        3. Copy the ICS link (ending in .ics).
        4. Back here, click Connect Outlook and paste the link when asked. Confirm the email address Reception's bookings should be sent to (defaults to your usual email).

No Microsoft sign-in needed. Reception sees your events (with up to a few hours' lag from Microsoft) and any bookings they make are quietly added to your Outlook calendar with no Accept prompt.

        My Calendar Instructions

Standing instructions about how you'd like your calendar managed — e.g. "Check with me before booking anything", "Avoid school holidays", or "No appointments before 10am".
